It’s official!
2018 is more than half over!
How did that even happen?
I started preparing for this moment a couple of weeks ago, when I stopped by my local craft and hobby shop. The 4th of July things were going on clearance sale (uh-oh), and the fall decorations had replaced the stuff in the “summer fun” aisles (gulp!).
And the kicker….they’ve moved the furniture to make room for the Christmas trees and the Christmas ornaments are going up.
AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!
It’s definitely time to do a reset on the year.
Time to reassess, and get myself in the right frame of mind for the next six months. Time to decide what will be the measuring stick for success or failure.
I know my wish list of “things to accomplish in 2018” is far too long to be realistic.
When the list is 6 things, that means I’m doing one thing each month, but a list of 26 things translates into something each week, every week, for the rest of the year. Is that possible?
To pare it down, I’ve asked myself about “the really important things,” the handful of shiny brights that, if I get nothing else done, will be enough.
Once I have a list of priorities in place, it gets easier to make decisions.
Think about it:
- if one of my goals is to sleep in my bed every single night, then I don’t need to worry about planning that trip to Paris!
- if I want to be more spontaneous, then there needs to be some open space on the calendar to accommodate that.
- if I want to take an extended tour of Europe, then maybe I don’t need to be shopping for a new mattress for my house.
So what’s on your short-list for the next six months?
